Loyd Garland Crain, 93, of Charlotte, passed away March 12, 2015 at Regency Retirement Village. He was born January 8, 1922 in Tellico Plains, TN, the son of the late, Napoleon and Isadora Crain. Loyd was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a US Army Veteran. He retired from Firestone after 35 years of service. Loyd was a member of Temple Baptist Church of Gastonia, where he was a former Deacon, teacher and Sunday School Superintendent. He was passionate about the outreach visitation program and was very active at his church. Left to cherish his memories are daughters, Jeanne Capps and Renita Fowler and husband, Wyatt; sister, Madge Smart; grandchildren, Carlton Capps and wife, Jonelle, Jessica Michalak and husband, Daniel and Abby Fowler and great-grandchild, Reagan Capps. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Crain; son-in-law, Ralph Capps and six brothers and sisters. A funeral service will be held 3 pm Monday at Temple Baptist Church - 701 Littlejohn Street, Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Scott Whitener. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery.
