It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Loretta Marlene Hollingsworth, a beloved daughter, aunt, and friend, who left this world on June 28, 2026, at the age of 71. Loretta was born on April 16, 1955, in Lakeland, FL, and spent her later years in Gastonia, NC, where she was known for her warm smile and the incredible cheese toast she made at Haydens Restaurant.
Loretta's love for life made her unforgettable. She enjoyed coloring, drawing, putting puzzles together, BBQ Chips, and fried chicken. Her annual turkey gobble at Thanksgiving will be missed. Loretta loved Jesus and spoke about him often. It warms our hearts to picture her in heaven completely healed and walking the streets of gold with him.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Hollingsworth and Edith Goodson; and her sisters, Darlene Addis and Velma Miller.
Loretta is survived by her brother, Lloyd Hollingsworth Jr. (Debbie); sister, Teresa Murphy (Scotty); several special nieces and nephews who lived in the area and took care of her, Lynda Addis Hammett (Shane), Michael Addis (Jennifer), Joey Addis (Melanie), Amy Addis Brown (Aaron), who will forever cherish the memories they shared; several other nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews. Her absence will leave a significant void in the hearts of family and friends who were touched by her kindness.
A memorial service celebrating Loretta's life will be held on July 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Greene Funeral Service South Chapel, located at 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC. All who knew her are invited to join in honoring her memory.
