Lois Knowles Norman, 89, of Gastonia, passed away October 16, 2021, at Peak Resources in Cherryville.
A Gaston County native, Lois was born June 16, 1932, to the late David and Mabel Knowles.
Mrs. Norman was a member of McAdenville Baptist Church.
She was a devoted church goer and loved to sing in the choir.
Lois was a people person.
She loved her family, loved cooking (her specialty was red velvet cakes and pecan pies), and loved her jewelry.
She also collected Santa Clauses.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Norman; son, Terry Gentry; and sister, Sue Homesley.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Rebecca Woods (Robert), Carol Hope (Tom), Rickey Hoover (Don); brothers, Morris Knowles (Sandy), David Knowles; sisters, Doris Smith, Martha Messer (Jerry); grandchildren, Amy Vondra (Evan), Emily Ortiz (Hector), Jason Adams (Lauren), Sherry James (Jesse), Andy Hope (Barbara), Cindy Hope, Mary Ann Hope, Cathy Hope, Tripp Hoover (Robin), Richard Hoover, Tonya Hoover; 20 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Walt Griggs, will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, October 20, at McAdenville Baptist Church, 192 Main St, McAdenville, NC.
The family will receive friends at the church from 9:00 am until 9:45 am prior to the service.
Interment will be in Gaston Memorial Park.
