Jesus and the Father received another angel at the Gates of Heaven this past Monday, February 7th, 2022. Lisa D. Lanford, loving mother and grandmother, has unexpectedly passed away at 56 years of age.
Lisa was born to Linda D. Lanford and the late Lester K. Lanford in Gaston County on May 9th, 1965.
Lisa was a Gaston Day School graduate and attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She had an eye for angles, lighting, and detail and spent ten years as a portrait photographer servicing both Gaston and Mecklenburg County. In her later years, Lisa was employed by Eckerds Pharmacy before the company transitioned into RiteAid, followed later by Walgreens. She enjoyed interfacing with the community and loved her coworkers as a second family.
She is survived by her mother, three children, son Brandon Smith of Woodstock, IL; daughter Lauren Smith of Belmont, NC; daughter Lexia Smith of Gastonia, NC; granddaughter Lilith Johnson; aunt Judy Wedemeyer of Kings Mountain, NC; cousin Kimberely Humphries of Gastonia, NC; and uncle and aunt Gerald and Jane Lanford of York, SC. In addition to her father, Lisa is preceded in death by her brother, Lanny Lanford of Gastonia, NC; her infant brother; her maternal grandparents, Sarah and Hubert Nichols of Gastonia, NC; and paternal grandparents, Tommie and Claude Lanford of Bessemer City, NC.
Lisa's pride was in raising her three children and her favorite pastime was enjoying a day of cuddling with her granddaughter. She was a reliable friend and colleague to many. She loved her dog, Ares, and never missed an opportunity to throw a ball with him. She will be greatly missed by all of her loved ones.
A service in her honor, officiated by Pastor Dale Lawing, will be held at 2p.m. on Monday, February 14th, 2022, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service located at 1503 South York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be held at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to City Church - 3100 City Church Street, Gastonia, NC 28056.
