Lindy Hampton Wise

Lindy Wise, 78 - Lindy Hampton Wise, 78, formerly of Cleveland, Ohio, went to be with the Lord after a long struggle with cancer on February 3, 2014 surrounded by his family at his home. Mr. Wise was born June 23, 1935 in Boissevain, VA. Mr. Wise served in the United States Navy as a Seaman from 1956-1958 aboard the USS Bennington. Lindy loved sports, especially fond of basketball. He loved John Wayne and loved to watch Western shows, especially "The Rifleman." He also enjoyed reading Louis Lamour novels, drawing and bowling. Lindy "Hot dog" worked at Ford Motor Company for 31 years until his retirement in 1984. Lindy was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all. Lindy is survived by his wife, Shirley of 35 years, children, Sharline & Bobby Bridges of Gastonia, NC, Robin & Marcus Lofstrom of Seattle, WA, Michael & Wendy Wise of Cleveland, OH, and Steven & Kim Olander also of Cleveland, OH, 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren as well as many other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and John Wise, Sr.; brothers, Johnny & Elwood and grandson, Charlie. The family wishes to send a special thank you to Hospice in Gastonia for their loving care and support. At his request, no service will be held. The family will be receiving family and friends at Greene Funeral Services, 1503 S. York Road, Gastonia from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2014.
