Linda Carolyn Mcginnis

Linda Carolyn McGinnis, 72, passed away, Friday, December 16, 2022.

She was born in Robbinsville, NC to the late Cain and Hattie Rebecca Lovin, and through the gift of adoption, was the daughter of the late JB and Marjorie Collins.

Linda attended Western Carolina University and worked many years in retail management before beginning her second career in healthcare at Gaston Memorial Hospital. She was a longtime member of Brookleigh Baptist Church in Gastonia, where she taught Sunday School, was the director of the WMU, and the chairperson of the Hospitality Committee. She enjoyed serving during mission trips to New York and South Dakota. She was a loving wife and mother, but her favorite title was "Granny".

She was preceded in death by her husband and best friend, William "Big Bill" McGinnis, her parents, JB and Marjorie Collins, her stepson Keith McGinnis, and three brothers.

Left to cherish her memory are her children James (Destiny) McGinnis of Dallas, William "Little Bill" McGinnis of Bessemer City, Jennifer (Ben) Whitener of Newton, daughter in-law Jackie McGinnis of Dallas, sister, Betty Anderson of Robbinsville, grandchildren, Suzanne (Jeffrey) Bridges of Stanley, Kallista McGinnis of Huntersville, Marshall and Shuford Whitener of Newton, Braylon, Madilynn and Avalyn Dockery, Waylen and Rylan McGinnis of Dallas, Wyatt McGinnis of Bessemer City, great grandchildren, Dakota and Cale Bridges of Stanley, a number of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service officiated by Rev. Adrienne Martin and Rev. Dennis Pruitt will be held at Sardis Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6103 NC 10 Hwy. Hickory, NC on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at 6:00 PM. Visitation will be 4:30 – 5:45 PM prior to the service at the church. A private interment will be held at Gaston Memorial Park.

The South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service is serving the McGinnis family.
