Lilly Jean Vowell

Lilly was born September 19, 1938, in Dallas, NC to Naomi Putnam and Henry Putnam.

Throughout her life, she worked many jobs centered around children. She slayed the icy roads as a bus driver in Indiana and spent over a decade at BC Central as an office secretary. She had numerous recognitions and awards for her devotion.

When she wasn't working, you'd most likely find Lilly in the kitchen cooking a favorite meal, watching TV cheering on her Dallas Cowboys, or taking a nap with her grand-pup Dallas. She was a beloved member of the Westview Baptist Church and never missed a Sunday service or a BBQ fundraiser.

We will miss her sweet smile and sass but happy to know she is greeted in heaven by her mother, husband, and son, James Kelly Vowell.

She is survived by her: Grandchildren, Kara, Kylee, Kirk, Keith, Nicole (Patrick), Rebecca (Dalton) David and Monica (Ricky); great-grandchildren, Patrick Jr., Kadence, Levi, Mia, Ryder; Daughter-In-Law Jenny Vowell. Three sons: Shawn (Jessica) Michael (Jennifer) and Bryan (Karen).

A celebration of Lilly's life will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Road Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Scott Rudisill.

A private burial of the urn will be at Westview Gardens, Bessemer City.
