Lillie Murray Costner

Lillie Murray Costner, 85, of Bessemer City, went home to be with Jesus on June 23, 2021, at her home.

She was born August 14, 1935, in Gaston County, daughter of the late William Kay Murray and Florence Sellers Elmore.

She was a member of Union Road Church of God in Gastonia.

Lillie loved her family and was deeply devoted to all of them.

She loved watching the birds while they were at the feeders.

The family would like to give special thanks to Gaston Hospice, and also Kim and Charlotte.

A funeral service will be held  3:00 pm Monday June 28, 2021, at Union Road Church, 2315 Union Road Gastonia, officiated by  Pastor Lee Claypoole and Pastor Terry Mull.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be at Westview Gardens, Bessemer City.

Lillie is survived by her son, Dennis Costner(Kathy);  her daughter, Linda Costner Thomas(Terry); sisters, Janie Black, Carolyn Wilson; grandchildren, Bobby Costner(Julie), Scotty Costner (Audrey), Regina Crayton (Lance), Michael Costner, Todd Thomas, Brent Thomas, Kelly Thomas, Paula Costner; great-grandchildren, Kelsey Costner, Adison Costner, Emily Costner, Leanna Crayton, Emily Crayton, Gavin Thomas, Kylie Thomas, Caleb Costner; great-great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Dominick Thomas; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Lillie was preceded in death by her husband of  69 years, Jack R. Costner; her son, Jeffrey Costner;  brother, Johnny Murray; sisters, Margie Murray, Frances Bowen.

Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, Gastonia.
