Lewis Vance Woods, 77, departed this life Saturday January 9th, 2021, at his home in Bessemer City, surrounded by his loving family.
Lewis was born and raised in NC, where he met his lifelong sweetheart and bride of 58-years and supported his life driving a truck. The Woods home was always filled with family as they helped to raise brothers, nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Lewis was an avid outdoorsman and taught all the kids to fish in the family pond and gravel in Long creek (catch catfish by hand.) He grew a large garden every Summer, using the old Ford tractor that had been his Dad's. He always shared whatever he grew. Lewis loved everything Ford, collecting stuff and pulling for the Ford NASCAR drivers. Though not the cook in the family, he loved to host cookouts for them, where you might find a possum, squirrel, raccoon or gator on the grill. He loved the screams from the kids and it showed in his mischievous blue eyes.
He's preceded in death by his daughter Patricia and survived by his loving wife Marlene, his son Louie and his grandsons Bryson and Jamey. I wish there was some way to list all the extended family that over the years he helped in so many ways, but they are too numerous to mention.
