Gastonia, NC - Lester "Buck" Dixon, 84, of Gastonia, passed away Thursday, January 16th, at Alexandria Place. He was born February 20, 1929 native of Gaston County son of the late James Austin Dixon, Sr. and Ellen Carson Dixon. Buck was a veteran of the US Army, who retired after 20 years of service. He retired with Gaston County Police Department after 22 years of service and was the first certified intox operator in Gaston County. He was a member of Olney Presbyterian Church. He loved his family well. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday at Olney Presbyterian Church, Gastonia officiated by Rev. Libby Sigmon. Visitation will be held 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Saturday at Greene Funeral Service - South Chapel. Burial will be in the church cemetery with burial honors by the Gaston County Police. Buck is survived by his wife of over 62 years, Doris Dixon; daughters, Deborah Dixon, Leslie Dixon Bolin and husband, Dennis; brother, Don Dixon; grandchildren, Drew, Courtney and Noah Bolin. In addition to his parents, Buck was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Dixon Jr., and sisters, Frances Bass, Margaret Reeves and Nancy Gilbert. The family wants to thank the staff at Alexandria Place for the loving care and devotion provided to Buck for the past 16 months.
