Lester "Sly" Charles Mason

Lester "Sly" Mason, 60, of Gastonia, NC, passed away October 8, 2024, at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, NC.

Lester was born in Gaston County, NC on January 23, 1964, to the late Charles and Alice Mason.

Lester was a hard-working man who loved to fish. He loved to play cards. He would do anything for anybody - a truly self-less man. He was a jokester. He loved to dance. He looked forward to Sunday afternoon football. His favorite TV shows were Gunsmoke, Leave it to Beaver, The Price is Right, Andy Griffith, and Survivor. He was a master at working jigsaw puzzles.

Lester worked as a CNC Programmer and supervisor at Carolina Textiles for 30 years.

Lester is survived by his daughter, Amanda Dillard and husband Donovan; his girl, Sonya Kirkpatrick; siblings, Marie Dunn, David Mason and wife Sissy, and Carolyn Cook and husband Jeff; nieces and nephews, Allison, Mary, David "D.A.", and Faith; and he was also known as Pop Pop to Spencer, Avery, and Michael.

A service to celebrate Lester's life, officiated by Rev. Jeff Cook, will be held Sunday, October 13, 2024, at 3:00 pm, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 pm.
