Leroy (Roy) Mitchem

Leroy (Roy) Mitchem, of Clover SC was called home to be with the Lord on September 23, 2024.

He was a loving husband, daddy and "Papa" to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He enjoyed the outdoors when he was working in his garden, riding the tractor while farming, hunting and watching westerns on tv.

Mr. Mitchem was the son of the late Calvin Clinton Mitchem and Mary Elizabeth Lanier Mitchem.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Doris Mitchem of 68 years.  He was also preceded in death by his siblings: Dr. John Robert (Bob) Mitchem, Ruth Neal, Mae Mintz, James (Jim) Mitchem, William (Bill) Mitchem and son-in-law Eddie Mathis.

He is survived by his daughters, Teresa Mathis and Ann Pierce (Jerry), his brother Jerry Mitchem (Iris) and sister Mary Crisp.  Grandchildren, Jennifer Allen (Brent), Bobby Massey (Lacey), James (Jamie) Whitesides (Kellie), Justin Whitesides, Garland Pierce.  Great grandchildren Emily Massey and Arthur and Baylee Whitesides and Kolton Whitesides.  Numerous nieces and nephews and special friends and his loving puppy Princess.  His care sitters, Leslie Silver-Frank and Jennifer Keller for all the Love he received from them.  His Med-Techs, Kira, Tonya, Ashley, LaDenna and many additional special employees of Morningside of Gastonia who provided great care and love to him.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024, at 1 pm in West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 216 Archie Whitesides Road, Gastonia, NC. officiated by Pastor David Lutz.  The family will receive friends 12-1 pm prior to the service.  Interment will be at Westview Gardens in Bessemer City, NC.
