Leonard Frank Shelby

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leonard Frank Shelby Jr, known to his loved ones as Frank. Born on August 12, 1958 in Gastonia, NC, he sadly departed on August 14, 2024, from brain cancer.

Frank pursued a career as a maintenance mechanic at Timken Bearing Manufacturing. Frank was a proud American citizen who took great pride in his work. When he wasn't busy fixing machinery, Frank could be found living life to the fullest. He had a passion for motorcycles, particularly his beloved Harley. Frank was also a talented singer and had the privilege of performing alongside various musical groups, including "Coming Up Brass." His heart belonged to his loyal companion Skylar, his four-legged best friend.

Above all, Frank cherished his family more than anything else, his wife of 40 years, Shelby Y. Shelby; mother, Brenda Hope; daughter, Wendy Shelby; son, Wesley Shelby (Erin); daughter, Marah Shelby (PJ); grandchildren, Jensen, Kaylee (CJ), Connor, Hailey, Jaiden, Isabella, Elizabeth, and Levi; sister, Teresa Childers (Dean); brother, Corry Roseberry (Stephanie); brother in law, Jimmy Yelton (Rita),. He was especially devoted to his grandchildren, always ready to spoil them with love and affection.

Frank was preceded in death by his father Leonard Shelby Sr. and son, Leonard Shelby III.

A memorial service to celebrate Frank's life will be held at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S York Rd., Gastonia, NC, 28052, on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at 6:00 pm, officiated by John Johnson. Prior to the service, visitation will take place at the same location from 5:00 to 6:00 pm.
