Leonard Edward Scoggins, 79, of Clover, passed away February 8, 2015, at Piedmont Medical Center, Rock Hill. He was born Aug. 11, 1935, in Gaston County, son of the late James Andrew Scoggins and Ruby Scoggins Shephard. Leonard was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He worked at Wix for 21 years before retiring and was a member at Living Hope Baptist Church, Gastonia. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by son, Matthew Scoggins, and brothers, J.D. Shephard and Billy Shephard. Left to cherish his memories are loving wife of 58 years, Martha Scoggins; son, Leonard L. Scoggins; daughters, Sharon Payne, Ruby Rogers (Donald), Angie Scoggins; brother, Bud Scoggins; sisters, Betty Clark, Carolyn Oliver (Buck), Helen Morton (Robert); 6 grandchildren; great grandchildren, Johnny Wood and Bryson Byrd and 5 other great grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Duece. A funeral service will be held 12pm on Wed. at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 South York Rd., Gastonia, officiating Rev. Danny Gardner. The family will receive friends 6-8pm on Tues. at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Gaston Memorial Park.
