Gastonia, NC Leona Barker Evans Miller, 79, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on May 31, 2013, at White Oak Manor, Kings Mtn. She was born April 11, 1934 in Swain County, daughter of the late Willie Garland Barker and Emma Woods Barker. She was the last surviving sibling of eleven brothers and four sisters. Mrs. Miller was a loving mother and wonderful grandmother. Her great granddaughters lovingly called her "Granny". She always told her grandchildren they were her hearts bouquet. Her family will carry her heart in their hearts forever. A celebration of Leona's life will be held 4 pm on Sunday at the new mausoleum of Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia, officiated by the Rev. Charles Curtis. The family will receive friends 3-4 pm on Sunday at the new Mausoleum prior to the service. Interment is private. She is survived by: her daughters, Kathy Evans Beam, Linda Evans Fraley and her husband, Wade; four grandchildren, Lee Beam and his wife, Madeline, Amy Beam Blanton and her husband, Chad, Katie Fraley, Christopher Fraley and his fiancee`, Allison Ratchford; five great granddaughters, Victoria and Allyson Beam, Addie, Grace and Lillie Blanton. In addition to her parents, brothers and sisters, she was preceded in death by: her first husband, Buford Evans; her second husband, Roy Miller; son in-law, Michael Beam.
