Leon Franklin King, 75, of Bessemer City, passed away on August 18, 2016, at his home.
He was born July 25, 1941, in Blount County, TN, son of the late Virgil and Imogine King.
Mr. King was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Kings Mountain.
He was formerly employed with Duplex International and Hank Fink Incorporated.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2016, at Grace United Methodist, 830 Church St. Kings Mountain, by the Reverends Julie Roberts and Tom Jolly.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall.
Mr. King is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Bumgardner King; son, Douglas King (Susie) of Bessemer City; daughter, Rosemary Queen(Leslie) of Kings Mountain; adopted daughter, Karen "Doodle" Dellinger (Jimmy) of Kings Mountain; grandchildren, Victoria Rodden (Justin) of Kings Mountain, Taylor and Tylor King of Bessemer City; Justin Queen of Kings Mountain; brother, Richard King of Chats worth, GA; sisters, Mae Burris and Marie Thomas (David) all of Vonore, TN, Vina Cooke of Concord, NC.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Columbus and Norman King; sister, Rosie Schubert.
The family would like to give special thanks to Mr. King's hospice caregivers, Annie, Donna and Lisa.
