Lena Moore Long

Lena Moore Long was born on April 22, 1927 in Ellijay, NC. She was surrounded by loved ones during her passing, after a long life well lived on December 12, 2023, in Brevard, NC.

Lena is survived by her son, Brian and his wife Melanie Long, her daughter, Kim and her husband Jerry Bertram, her sister, Hester Becker, her grandchildren Andy, Alex, Megean, Chris, Katlyn and Trevor, as well as two great grandchildren Taron and Lily, along with her loving friends and extended family.

Lena is predeceased by her husband, Ray H. Long, her daughter, Rhea Genyne Long, her parents, Mamie R. and Charles E. Moore and her sisters, Anne Moore, Jean Moore, Ethel Fowler and Louise Kathleen Moore.

Lena spent her early years in Ellijay with her family, later moving to central Florida and finally settling with her family in Gastonia NC where she married and raised her three children. Lena worked at Threads, Inc. for a number of years and was Secretary at Pisgah ARP Church. Later in life she worked as a Tupperware dealer in Gastonia. Lena was a member of Chapel Grove Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Gastonia for many years before relocating to Asheville and later Brevard.

Lena was rarely seen without a broad smile on her face. She loved to try and do new things, and jumped into each new venture with energy and enthusiasm. Many will remember the wonderful cakes she made for many years. We will miss that along with her fire, her "sassy", and her zest for life.

A graveside service officiated by Pastor Steven Moore, will be held 11:00am, Friday, December 15, 2023, at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.
