Lawrence Humphries, Jr.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Lawrence Talmadge Humphries Jr., who left us on December 19, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on June 4, 1943, in Gaston County, North Carolina, Lawrence spent his life making lasting memories, especially in Gastonia, NC, where he called home.

Lawrence was a dedicated Army veteran who valued his time in service to the country. His adventurous spirit shined brightly through his love for riding his Harley motorcycle. He found joy in the simple things, whether it be casting a line while fishing, playing cards with family and friends, or adding to his impressive collection of firearms. He was also a talented craftsman, known for making his own knives and picture frames, which he shared with the people he cared about.

Lawrence is survived by his loving spouse of 54 years, Shirley Humphries; and his cherished children, Jeff Humphries (Kim), Brandy Lewis (Henry), Bucky Hallman and Jennifer Pilkington; grandsons, Alec Hallman, Lee Hallman, Austin Pilkington, Joshua Humphries, Blake Lewis (Lis), Gage Lewis (Jordyn), Matthew Humphries and Evan Pilkington; great grandchildren, Josie, Lucas Riley and Grace; brother, Ken Humphries (Joyce); sisters, Linda Lane (Emory), Gail Blanton (Bruce) and Connie Humphries; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Lawrence's life at a visitation on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Greene Funeral Service - West Chapel.

Though we grieve, let us also remember the laughter, the adventures, and the love he brought into our lives. Rest in peace, Lawrence.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence Humphries and Beatrice Fogle.
