Larry Eugene Whitlock

Larry Eugene Whitlock, 68, of Bessemer  City, NC, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Caromont Regional Medical Center.  He was born January 19, 1953 in Gaston County and was the son of the late  Christine L. Fowler.  Larry was a member of the First Baptist Church, Bessemer City.  He retired from Norfolk Southern after twenty-three years of service.  Larry loved his family and his fur baby Tucker.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of forty-eight years, Sharon Costner Whitlock; son, David Whitlock (Teresa); daughter, Nicole Beason (Mickey); grandchildren, Brandon Hargrave & Brooklyn Whitlock; sisters, Carolyn Garrison and Kathy Lewis.  In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Sonny Whitlock and Bobby Rector.

A graveside service will be held 2 pm Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at the Chapel Mausoleum of Westview Gardens, Bessemer City.  Pastor Olin Byrum will be officiating.  Pallbearers will be police officers with the City of Gastonia Police Department.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church 107 East Washington Ave. Bessemer City NC 28016.  The family is being served by the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, Gastonia.
