Larry Barnes

Larry "Barney" Barnes, age 61, of Whittier, NC, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2012 at West Care Medical Center in Sylva, NC. A Gaston County native, he was born November 17, 1950, son of the late Buford Barnes and Minnie Guffey Nichols. In addition to his parents, Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by his brother, Ray Franklin Barnes; and his great grandson, Matthew Pruitt. Larry is survived by his wife of 35 years, Nancy Williams Barnes; sons, Scott Barnes and wife, Crystal, Shane Barnes and fiancée, Sharon Horn, Josh Barnes, Cliff Barnes and fiancée, Jamie Shaw; brother, Gene Barnes and wife, Darlene; sisters, Brenda Tignor, Louise McBee and husband, Pat, Helen Glisson and husband, David; grandchildren, Stephanie, Amberly, Trinity, Noah, Carmynn, and Ethan Barnes, Kassie, Miranda, and Brittney Horn; great-granddaughter, Lilly Pruitt. A memorial service will be held 3:00pm Sunday at Fraley Memorial Baptist Church, 3025 Fraley Church Rd., Gastonia, officiated by Dr. Warner Doles, Rev. Lewis Crisp, and Rev. Hoyt Lucas. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
