Larry Wayne Autry

Larry Wayne Autry, 78, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025.

He was born July 12, 1947, in Red Springs, NC to the late "Sam" and Mildred Autry and was a long-time resident of Gastonia, NC.

Larry was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Vietnam. He was also a loving husband and father who worshiped the Lord with the congregation of Salem Baptist Church, where he drove the church van to pick up congregation members for services and oversaw the daily maintenance of the building. He was an engineer by nature as well as a kind and generous person who would offer his skills when and where needed. In his free time, he collected antiques and worked on his classic cars and took them for joy rides.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Autry; his brothers, Keith Autry and Bruce Autry.

Left to cherish his memories are his 3 children - Danny Autry, Chastity Autry, and Kevin Autry, his siblings - Pat Haney, Judy Haney, Peggy Capps, Ronnie Autry, and Gary Autry, and a vast family and friends whose lives he deeply touched.

His funeral service, officiated by Pastor Junior Morris, will be held at 11 am on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Salem Baptist Church. The graveside service will be held at Gaston Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
