Lanny Shubert

Lanny Glenn Shubert, Sr, 84, of Gastonia, NC, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, September 22, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Lanny was a long time member of Southside Baptist Church in Bessemer City, where he served as a deacon. Lanny was a veteran of the United States Army. He was also a member of the Gaston County Honor Guard. Lanny retired from the City of Gastonia after 30 years of service. Lanny loved his family and his church family. He loved to go camping, and fishing. He loved golfing and late model dirt track racing with his friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Bertha Shubert; his son, Lanny Glenn Shubert Jr.; three brothers, Virgle Shubert, Ted Shubert, Doug Shubert; sister, Betty Perry.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 58 years, Carolyn Roseberry Shubert; daughter, Emily Hudson (Bradley); brother, Joe Shubert; two grandchildren, Aaron Bradshaw (Alanah), Ian Hudson (Bailey); two special nieces, Dawn Lackey, Vickie Cook; one great-grandchild on the way.

A funeral service to honor Lanny will be held, Monday, September 28, 2026, at Southside Baptist Church, 530 Bethany Rd, Bessemer City, NC, at 1:00 PM. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 27, 2026, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at the church. Burial with military honors will follow the service Monday, September 28th at Westview Gardens Cemetery, 1123 Edgewood Rd. Bessemer City, NC.
