Lanny R. Davis

Lanny R. Davis, 76, of Vale, passed away May 30, 2024, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem.

He was born January 13, 1948, in Gaston County, son of the late Rufus Davis and Ethel Gibson Davis.

Lanny attended St. Michaels Catholic Church in Gastonia.

He was a Vietnam Veteran who proudly served his country in the US Army. He had a bachelor's degree in history. As a gunsmith he enjoyed building and cleaning guns as well as the history of the gun.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, riding motorcycles and off-road vehicles. He loved to travel any chance he got, especially out west. He was the best storyteller.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother who loved his family and was devoted to all of them.

A celebration of life will be held 11:00 am Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Road Gastonia, officiated by Rev. Jeff Hull.

The family will receive friends following the service.

Lanny is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Anna Schied Davis; his children, Anna Marie Jones (Kevin), Shane Davis (Meredith), Jeremy Davis (Angela); sisters, Lois Ann Hardin, Mignol Hefner, (Jerry), "Lillie" Lorene Summey (Terry); grandchildren, Devin Jones, Alexis Williams, (Matthew), Kristen Davis, Lindsey Davis, (Garrett), Angela Grace Davis, Lauren "Izzy" Davis, Olivia Davis.
