Kermit Andrew Boone

Kermit Andrew Boone, 70, formerly of Gastonia, passed away Friday, August 29, 2014 at Abbeville Nursing Home, Abbeville. He was born October 28, 1943 in Rutherford County, NC, son of the late Ruby Skidmore and Roy L. Boone, Sr. Kermit was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Gastonia and a fireman with the City of Gastonia for many years. He was an avid sports fan who loved golf, football, baseball, basketball and racing. The family wishes to give special thanks to the nursing home staff and administration of Abbeville Nursing home and a very special friend, Amanda Mayo. A funeral service will be held 3 pm on Sunday at Greene Funeral Service - South Chapel - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by Dr. John Pelonero. Visitation will be held 2 - 2:45 pm on Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Hollywood Cemetery. Kermit is survived by his daughter, Amber Drawdy of Myrtle Beach, SC; brothers, Cecil Boone of Greenwood, SC and Melvin D. Boone of Kings Mountain, NC. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Boone; son, Stevie Andrew Boone; brothers, Roy, Charles, Joe and Leslie Boone; sisters, Clarebell Robenson Tintera and Justin Ann Pressnell.
