Katie Denton Hawkins

Katie Denton Hawkins, 85, of Gastonia, passed away March 7, 2016 at Belaire Healthcare Center.

She was born April 24, 1930 in Hiwassee, GA, the daughter of Samuel Franklin Denton and Mary Magdelene Garrett Denton.

Katie was a life-long member of East Baptist Church.  She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Left to cherish her memories are her sons David Hawkins (Carol), Dickie Hawkins (Sharon) and Darrell Hawkins; daughters Donna Frady (Randy) and DeAnne Jenkins (Kerry); sister Hortense Cowan; eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Dixie Fisher (Rufus) and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband DA Hawkins and nine siblings.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm Friday at East Baptist Church, 114 N. Church Street, Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Tim Parker.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park.
