Katie Barnette

Katie Barnette, 92, of Shelby, passed away August 7, 2015 at Cleveland Pines. She was born June 1, 1923 in Chester County, daughter of the late William and Marion Bigham. Katie was a member of Landmark Baptist Church of Gastonia. She loved her family and friends dearly and will be missed by all. Left to cherish her memories are sons, Tommy Barnette and wife, Rachel, Richard Barnette and wife, Selena; daughters, Jeanne Britt and husband, Thomas, Pearl Goforth and husband, Carley, Deborah Bryan and husband, Wayne and Marion Hepler; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Cleveland Barnette; son, Buddy Barnette; brother, Glenn Bigham and sister, Mary Louise Rowland. A funeral service will be held 3 pm Sunday at Landmark Baptist Church - 311 Archie Whitesides Rd., Gastonia, officiated by the Rev. Forrest Hennessee. The family will receive friends 2 - 3 pm prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Mt. Rest Cemetery.
