Kathleen Kaheny

Gastonia, NC Kathleen Kaheny, age 104, of Wantagh L.I., NY and Gastonia, NC, passed away July 30, 2013, at Morningside Assisted Living, Gastonia. Kathleen was born in Brooklyn, NY, July 18, 1909, the daughter of the late Peter Richard Kaheny and Margaret Daly Kaheny, both natives of Ireland. She attended schools in Brooklyn and Richmond Hill, Queens, NY. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret E. Kaheny and Marion Kaheny Corrigan; brothers, John M. Kaheny, William R. Kaheny; cousin, Mary Griffin Chambers; nephew, Peter Richard Kaheny, and beloved niece, Peggy Corrigan. Kathleen was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend to all. She had a love for the legal profession and practiced as a legal secretary/assistant in Jamaica, NY and Merrick L.I., NY until she was 80 years old. She is survived by her nieces, Elizabeth Kaheny del Fierro of Gastonia, NC, Mary Kaheny Pechner of Cary, NC and Nora Kaheny Costanzo of Ormond Beach, FL; and her nephews, Michael Corrigan of San Jose, CA, Richard W. Kaheny of Austin, TX, John M. Kaheny of San Diego, CA, William Corrigan of Olney, MD; and numerous grand and great nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Gastonia, NC on Friday at 10:00 am. Inurnment will be at Holy Rood Catholic Cemetery in Westbury L.I., NY on a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, Bertrand Hall, St. Marys, Notre Dame, IN 46556 or Gaston Hospice, P.O.
