Katherine Haynes

Katherine Haynes, 91, of Gastonia, NC passed away Sunday, December 15th, 2013 at Belaire Health Care Ctr. She was a native of Gaston County, born August 26, 1922 to the late John and Annie Lowe. Katherine was a veteran of the US Army who served during WWII. She was a member of the American Legion Post 240, Maiden, NC. She was a loving mother, aunt and a great friend. She will be missed by many especially her dog, Tyler. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Belaire Health Care. A funeral service will be beld 12:00 pm on Wednesday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by Rev. Greg Ballard. The family will receive friends 10:30 - 11:45 am before the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia, NC. Katherine is survived by: her daughter, Nancy Haynes; nieces, Renee' Boyd, Lori Nelms and other nieces and nephews; extended family, Carol Shehan and Chanin Bell. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Plato Haynes, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: American Legion Post 240, PO Box 192, Maiden, NC 28650. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
