Kate Thompson

Elisa Kate Thompson was born September 30, 1955 in Gastonia, NC to Bueford Davis Bumgardner and Minnie Louise Huffstetler Bumgardner.

Katie attended Hunter Huss in Gastonia, NC she was employed with RL Stowe in Belmont, NC for many years.

Katie was joined in matrimony with Robert Eugene Thompson on February 7, 1994 and married for 26 years.

Katie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She was a devoted church member of Gospel Light Holiness Church of Gastonia NC. Katie loved her church and church family. She was always ready to help anyone in need if she was able. She loved her family and Katie loved and cherished her special friendship and bond with Kathy Vaughn. She loved watching NASCAR racing and Talking on the phone with family and friends.

Katie departed this life on April 26, 2020. She was preceded in death by: Her mother and father Bueford and Louise Bumgardner.

She leaves to cherish her memories: husband Robert Eugene Thompson of the home, One son Alden O'Donoghue and wife Patty of Statesville NC; two daughters Kimberly O'Donoghue Johnson and husband Joey of Gastonia, NC and Grace O'Donoghue Sparks and husband Roger of Shelby NC; two stepsons Robert Allen of Denver NC and Eugene Thompson of Gastonia NC; two sisters Renee Bumgardner and Deborah Thompson of Gastonia NC; two brothers Bueford  Davis Bumgarner Jr. and significant other Tracy of Dallas NC and Brian Bumgardner  and wife Jackie of Crestview Fl.; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and many extended family and friends.

A celebration of life service will be scheduled at a later time due to the COVID-19 virus.
