Karen Rose Heston

We are saddened to announce the passing of Karen Rose Heston on June 12th, 2026, at the age of 85, in Gastonia, NC, following a long battle with Congestive Heart Failure and COPD.

Karen was born on December 29th, 1940, in Farmington, WV, to George and Romaine Heston.She was the fourth of five children and the last surviving sibling. In addition to her parents,she was preceded in death by her siblings David George Heston, Joan Kay Heston, Sandra Jean Hatfield, and Thomas Heston.

She is survived by her only son, David M. Heston, and his wife Lark; nieces Cynthia Hatfield, Hope Ann Browning, and Beverly Ann Zwolensky and her husband Ricardo; nephews Daniel Wesley Heston and Dewayne Hatfield; grandchildren; Brett Daniel Goforth and his wife Jody, Jenny Marie Hickerson and her husband Vinnie, and Michael David Heston and his wife Jenna; great-granddaughter Saylor Brett Goforth; great-niece Lana Danelle Zwolensky; and great- nephews Ryan Browning and Chad Browning.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 29 and for many years during the 1970s, she was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church in Spring Hill, WV, where she led the youth group and sang in the choir. She moved to Charlotte, NC, in the early 1980s and worked as a legal secretary until her retirement, after which she discovered a love of drawing and painting with watercolors - a passion she pursued with great dedication and joy.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 25. 2026, 5:00 PM, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service,1503 S. York Road, Gastonia, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
