Justin "Jp" Shane Perkins, Sr.

Justin "J.P." Perkins, Sr., 32, of Gastonia, passed away Friday, November 10, 2023.

J.P. was born June 30, 1991, in Gaston County, NC, to Michael Perkins and Tammy Begley.

J.P. enjoyed listening to music and playing cards.  As a child, he enjoyed skating.  One of his favorite sayings was, "I'm gonna be just like my uncle Bubba."  His favorite song was "Good Times Go By Too Fast".  Other songs he was fond of were, "Running My Momma Crazy", "Somebody Save Me", "Me and My Brother", and "Better Together".

J.P was preceded in death by his grandmother, Dot Holmes; grandfather, Dee Costner; aunt, Michelle Costner; and cousin, Brittany Withers.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his stepfather, Terry Begley; grandparents, Ronnie and Sue Briggs and Brenda Costner; best friend, Christina Phillips; sons, Justin Shane Perkins, Jr., and Isaiah Phillips; daughter, Nevaeh Phillips; siblings, Rickie Hooper, Christopher Hooper, Joshua Begley, Jessica Begley; uncles, Mark Bruce and Bubba Costner; aunt, Charlene Costner; nieces, Shalynn, Serenity, and Elizabeth Hooper; and nephews, Rickie Shane Hooper,III, and Christopher Hooper, Jr.

A service to celebrate J.P.'s life will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Sparrow Springs Baptist Church, 6147 Lewis Road, Gastonia, NC 28052.
