Judy Franklin Messer

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Judy Franklin Messer, aged 68, on October 28, 2026. Born on October 26, 1958, in Gastonia, NC, Judy was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Judy was a devoted housewife who cherished her family above all else. She found joy in caring for her husband, Steve Messer, and her son, David Messer. She also loved her fur baby, Jack, who brought her many moments of happiness. Judy had a special place in her heart for her extended family, including her brother, Richard Franklin, and her nieces, Victoria Nance, India Franklin, and Sabrina Sigmon, along with numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins. She shared a close bond with her special friend and cousin, Becky Haney.

Judy is preceded in death by her father, Charles Franklin, and stepmother, Roberta; her mother, Teresa Pennington; her daughter, Dana Pennington; an infant grandchild; her sisters, Cecilia Sigmon (Sissy) and Linda Franklin; and her brothers, Charles Franklin Jr. (Buggy) and BJ Sigmon, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins who welcomed her in their loving embrace.

A former member of Bright Light Baptist Church, Judy found comfort in her faith and enjoyed attending services whenever she could. She loved trips to Family Dollar, where the simple act of shopping brought her joy, and she loved spending time with her family and playing with Jack.

Judy's life will be celebrated and a gathering to honor her memory will be held on Monday, November 2 at 6 pm at Bowling Green First Baptist Church. All friends and family are welcome to come share stories, laughter, and love as we remember the beautiful life of Judy Messer.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you share your memories of Judy and hold her loved ones close in your hearts. She will be deeply missed.
