Judson Truitt Boyd

J udson Truitt Boyd, 76, of Charlotte, passed away June 24, 2022, at Atrium Health Pineville.

He was born September 22, 1945, in Gaston County, son of the late Walter Glenn Boyd and Dorothy Hansell Boyd.

He received a doctorate degree in Theology. He had ministered for years at several churches and had taken mission trips to Tahiti.

He had worked in the grocery industry for many years, he started working for Food Lion, then Winn Dixie and he worked lastly for Publix.

He was a member of Independent Baptist Tabernacle in Dallas where he served as a former principal at the church's school.

He also was a Sunday School teacher for the men's class.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Independent Baptist Tabernacle, 2128 Dallas Cherryville Highway, Dallas, officiated by Pastor Brian Spargo and Rev. Michael Spargo.

The family will receive friends 1:30-2:30 pm at the church prior to the service.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Judson is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Patricia E. Boyd; sons, Joshua Boyd, John Boyd; stepson, Larry Galloway; daughter, Justy Hope; stepdaughters, Cathy Toney, Pamela James, Lora Moore; brothers, David Boyd, Danny Boyd; sisters, Slyvia Jones, Judy Garringer; twenty-eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents Judson was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Queen; and several brothers and sisters.

Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, Gastonia.
