Juanita Bertha Guffey Buchanan

Juanita Bertha Guffey Buchanan, 88, of Kings Mountain, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on May 13, 2024.

She was born September 8, 1935, in Gaston County, daughter of the late Alvoyd Guffey and Addie Mae Owens Guffey.

She had been a member of Independent Baptist Tabernacle for over 41 years.

She had worked as a nurse for 25 years at North Carolina State Orthopedic Hospital in Gastonia and enjoyed an amazing career.

She was a dedicated and loving wife for 55 years to her late husband Max and a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother to her precious family.

She loved to work in her garden, sew clothing for her family and loved to cook meals for everyone.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Independent Baptist Tabernacle Church Cemetery 2128 Dallas-Cherryville Highway Dallas, officiated by Pastor Brian Spargo and Speaker Tommie Bright.

Juanita is survived by her loving daughters, Nancy Tafur, Tina Caldwell, Anna Brown (Dexter); grandchildren, Melissa Bright, Julian Tafur Jr., Carlos Tafur, Brandon Brown; great-grandchildren, Ethan Bright, Lillie Bright, Abbie Bright, Ivanna Tafur, Luanna Tafur, Julian Andres Tafur, Daniel Tafur; special niece, Carole Frye.

In addition to her parents, Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Max Buchanan; son, Ralph Buchanan; brothers, Jerry and Joel Guffey.

Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service located at 216 Archie Whitesides Road Gastonia.
