Joyce "Mae" Lingerfelt

Joyce Mae Walters Lingerfelt, 79, of Gastonia, NC, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia.

Joyce, well known as Mae was born to Newell and Johnnie Walters, Sr., on February 7, 1944.

Joyce was a textiles worker her whole life until she retired. Joyce has a kind soul and a heart of gold. She will truly be missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Lingerfelt; sisters, Brenda Edwards, and Judy Blackstock; and brothers, Raymond, Dale, Jimmy, and Andy Walters.

Joyce is survived by her children, Julie Gathings (Sammy), Jeffrey Mosley (Rhonda), and James Mosley; brothers, Wilber (Becky), Tony (Deborah), and Bobby (Kathy); sister, Tina (Wayne); grandchildren, Gena (Daniel), Heather, and JJ (Amber); 5 great-grandchildren; 18 nieces; many great-nieces; 8 nephews; and many great-nephews.

A funeral service officiated by Rev. Raymond Walters, Jr., will be held 2pm, Monday, June 5, 2023, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service – 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will be held at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.
