Joy Sweeney, 56, of Dallas passed away July 19, 2018 at her residence. She was born November 11, 1961 in Cook County, Illinois, the daughter of Josephine Zawacki Kurtz and the late Lawrence LaVerne Kurtz.
Along with her mother, she is survived by her son, Adam Sweeney; daughters, Josephine Sweeney and husband Charles Swain and Kelly Helms and husband JC; brothers, Larry Kurtz, Jimmy Kurtz and Dan Kurtz; sisters, Mary "Nickey" Kurtz and Rebecca Tirado; and five grandchildren.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Sweeney.
A celebration of life service, officiated by Deacon John Wisenhorn will be held 7 pm on Tuesday, July 24th at Greene Funeral Service – South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia.
The family will receive friends 5 – 7 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
