Joy Cook Stewart

Joy Cook Stewart, 47, of Gastonia, NC, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Atrium Health Mercy, Charlotte, NC.  She was born May 11, 1974 in Gaston County and was the daughter of  Lester Lemoris Cook Jr. and  the late Mary Ann Pack Cook.

Joy was a member of Garver Memorial Baptist Church.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lester Lemoris Cook III.

In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband, Jerold Stewart; son, Justin Kyle Hoffman; daughter, Brittney Brittain (John); step-sons, Joshua and Aaron Stewart; step-daughters, Katelyn & Allison Stewart; brother, Clayton Cook (Brandi); sister, Leigh Rash (Josh); father and mother in-law, Rev. David and Serena Stewart; many nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters in-law, and friends.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 1, at Garver Memorial Baptist Church 1920 N Modena St. Gastonia, with Rev. David Stewart, officiating.  Interment will follow at Sandy Plains Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends from 6 – 9 pm on Monday at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service 1503 S. York Rd. Gastonia.
