Joy Rakow Sperry

Joy Rakow Sperry, 66, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away July 29, 2022, at her home.

She was born October 20, 1955, in Kane County, Illinois, to the late Donald and June Rakow.

Joy loved plants, flowers, reading and most of all spending time with her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was dearly loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by everyone.

Joy is survived by her son, Aaron James Sperry; daughter, Amanda Burton and husband Tarl; brother, Donald Rakow, Jr.; sister, Joann Bolton and husband Mack; and grandchildren, Tarl Burton II, Tristan Burton, and Talena Burton; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Joy was preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Rakow; sister, Judith Benjamin and her husband, Marty Benjamin; sister-in-law, Sandra Rakow; and former spouse, James Sperry.

A celebration of Joy's life will be held 3-5 pm Sunday, August 7, 2022, at Kings City Church, 1128 York Road, Kings Mountain.
