It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Michael Pilkington, born on January 27, 1953, in North Carolina. Joe left this world on September 29, 2025, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love.
A proud truck driver by trade, Joe navigated more than just the highways of America; he also navigated the hearts of those who knew him. He found joy in the simple things-family gatherings, the open road, and quality time with his loved ones.
He is survived by fiance, Susan Bowers; children, Joseph Neal Pilkington (Dawn), Tracy Jeanette Randall (Shayna), and Angeanette Edwards (Doug); sisters, Jeannia Collier (Randall), Debbie Miller, and Gretchen Adams; grandchildren, Curtis Cooper, Matthew Pilkington, Taylor Cornelius, Evan Pilkington, and Austin Pilkington; great-grandchildren, Evelyn Cooper, Abel Cooper, Brentley Cooper, and Silas Pilkington; and several nieces and nephews.
We invite friends and family to join us as we celebrate Joe's life and bid him farewell. A visitation will be held at Greene Funeral Service South Chapel on October 6, 2025, starting at 1:30 PM. Following this, a graveside service will take place at Gaston Memorial Park at 3:00 PM, where we will lay him to rest.
Let us come together to honor Joe's remarkable life and the love he shared with us all.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Pilkington, Maude Pilkington.

There are so many funny memories to share, Dad was always the life of the party, some of the best memories I have of my (our) Daddy, was him actually picking on me because I had big teeth growing up. Also one of my funniest memories was when we were on the boat at the river which my daddy loved. He threw me and my brother in the water and told us to swim, well my brother didn't but I didn't. It wasn't funny at the time, but as we got older that was one of the memories we used to talk about and laugh. My dad also loved to fish, and would take me and my brother to the river quiet often, and taught me how to bait a hook and cast a line. He is going to be truly missed and most of all I am going to miss him calling me goose every time we had a conversation.
