Gastonia, NC- Joseph B. Corinth 1928 - 2014 Gastonia - Joseph Battle Corinth, "Joe", 85, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Gastonia Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was born August 28, 1928 in Rocky Mount, NC, as the youngest child of the late A.R. and Mary Corinth. He graduated from Rocky Mount High School where he played baseball, basketball, and football. Following his older brothers' leads, he enlisted into the armed services (Air Force) during wartime and was honorably discharged as a sergeant after serving three years. He then once again followed his brothers to the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill where he majored in chemistry. His professional career was that of a textile chemist, working at a variety of companies including Collins and Aikman, Klopman, Burlington, and Gayley and Lord. In his spare time he loved spending time with his family, gardening, waxing his cars, and watching the Atlanta Braves and his beloved Tar Heels. He was a member of Stanley Pentecostal Holiness Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Richmond, Albert, and James Corinth; sisters, Katharine Ruben and Ann Corinth; daughter, Margaret Jane Corinth; and son, Joseph Edward Corinth. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Margaret; and his daughter, Patricia Anne Corinth. A funeral service will be held 2 pm Wednesday, May 14 at Stanley Pentecostal Holiness Church, 113 E Parkwood St., Stanley. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. A private graveside service will follow at Gaston Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Life Enrichment Center, 110 Life Enrichment Blvd., Shelby, NC 28150. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
