Joseph Amos Canipe

Joseph Amos Canipe, 78, of Gastonia passed away December 8, 2018 at his residence.
He was born September 23, 1940, a native of Gaston County, the son of the late Raymond and Gertrude Canipe.
Joseph was a member of Temple Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman and loved carpentry.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Shelby Owens Canipe; daughters, Myra Canipe of Belmont, and Christle Canipe of Boiling Springs Lake, Southport, NC; step-son, Benjamin Turner of York, SC; special grandson, Joseph "Little Joe" Canipe; sisters, Marie Warner and Ruth Canipe, both of Gastonia; grandchildren, Rebecca Williamson, Tressa C. Moore and Patricia Canipe and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be held 3 pm Monday, December 17, 2018 at Temple Baptist Church, 701 Littlejohn Street, Gastonia, NC, officiated by the Rev. Michael Sepaugh and Pastor Scott Whitener.
The family will receive friends from 2 – 3 pm prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Gastonia Fire Department Station 1 to the NC Firefighter's Burned Children's Fund, PO Box 1532, Gastonia, NC 28053.
