Joseph Chip Battencourt

J oseph Chip  Batttencourt, 87, of Grover, passed away on April 6, 2018, at his home.

He was born March 19, 1931, in Cashville, WV, son of the late Joe Battencourt and Petra Inoxos Battencourt.

Mr. Battencourt was a veteran of the US Air Force, where he served in the Korean War.

He was employed for over 42 years with the Houze Glass Factory.

A memorial service will be held 6:00pm Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd. Gastonia, officiated by the Rev. Crystal Childers.

Mr. Battencourt is survived by his loving wife, Betty Battencourt; children, Samuel Chipps and wife, Frances and Tabatha Cline and husband, Junior; brother, Tony Battencourt; grandchildren, Raymond, Nathan, Wesley, Sebastian, Desirae; great-granddaughter, Zoey; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by children, Teddy Chipps and Agnes Chipps; brothers, Erasmo "Duke" Battencourt, Rufus "Kook" Battencourt; sisters, Virginia Garcia, Matilda Wilson, Lena Valero.

Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
