Johnny Wayne Howard

Johnny Wayne Howard, 73, of Gastonia, NC, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at his residence.

He was born April 22, 1950, a native of Gaston Co, NC, son of the late Oscar and Oma Howard.

Johnny was a very hard worker. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, and he always looked forward to the Howard Family Reunion in Bryson City.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Johnny Wayne Howard, Jr.; stepdaughter, Alice Weathers; 8 sisters; and 1 brother.

Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Cheryl Howard; son, Charlie Howard (Laurie); daughter, Shelley Howard (Sammy); step-son, Jody Grigg; step-daughters, April Swink, and Dana Motes; sisters, Debbie Callahan, Gail Spencer, and  Ruby Cox; sisters-in-law, Cindy Auten, and Tammy Thompson; brother-in-law, Donnie Stacy (Brenda); grandchildren, Anyla Williams, and Patrick Howard; 11 step-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; 1 step-great-great-grandchild; and numerous special nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends will be held 6-8pm, Friday, September 8, 2023, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service – 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.
