Johnnie Mae Morton, 86, of Ranlo, passed away, Friday, August 3, 2018 at her residence.
Johnnie was born September 18, 1931, in Gaston County, daughter of the late John Gilbert and Bertie Gilbert.
She attended Daystar Baptist Church. Johnnie was a dedicated servant to the Lord and was a former member of Ranlo Baptist Church. She enjoyed every aspect of church, she taught bible study and always loved bible school time. Always, always helpful to all her family. A loving grandma, mother, and friend, her hobbies included, sewing, craft making and framing pictures and special moments of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memories are son Larry Wade Morton of the home. Granddaughters, April Morton McSwain (John), Kimberley Chandler Walker (Brian), Megan Courtney Chapman; grandson Jason Israel Chandler; great-grandchildren, L. Cpl. Benjamin Hargett, USMC, Kelsey and Jadeyn Chandler, J.D., Kaden and Lily Frazier, Josie and Jake of the home.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Alfred L. Morton; son, Alfred (Budgie) Morton; daughter, Sherry Chandler; siblings, Charles, Dot, Bill, and Leroy.
A grave site service will be held at 3:30pm, Monday, August 6, 2018 at Gaston Memorial Park. Visitation will be held before the grave site service from 2:00-3:00pm, at Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by Rev. Perry Huffstetler, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Lincoln County, 900 Dontia Dr., Lincolnton, NC, 28092.
