Dallas, NC - Johnnie Black, 95, of Dallas, passed away Tuesday, July 1st, at The Robin Johnson House, Dallas. He was born native of Gaston County on October 13, 1918, son of the late Edgar and Maggie Black. He was a member of Alexis Baptist Church since 1929. Johnnie is survived by: son, Larry Black and wife Myra of Dallas; daughter, Frances Walters and husband, Kenneth of Dallas; sister, Martha Morris of Gastonia; grandchildren, Jessica Levin, Jennifer Crawford, Jana Kaylor, Kenneth "Kenny" Walters, Kristy Jenkins; great-grandchildren, Abby Levin, Lydia Crawford, James Crawford, Gracie Kaylor, Klara Jenkins, Keyton Jenkins, Levi Walters, Isaiah Crawford and Bode Levin. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of over 67 years, Ruby Keever Black; brother, Houston Black; sisters, Lottie Cloninger, Edith Hovis and Dorothy Shrum. A funeral service will be held 11 am on Thursday at Alexis Baptist Chuch, 118 Alexis Church Rd., Alexis, NC 28006, officiated by Pastor Scott Jenkins. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to: Alexis Baptist Church, PO Box 39, Alexis, NC 28006 Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
