John "Walt" Wood

Gastonia, NC John "Walt" Wood, 65, passed away May 12, 2013 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby. He was born April 15, 1948 in Franklin County, GA, son of the late Clarence Edward Wood and Kathryn "Kat" Wood Holt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Greene Hall, and his brother, Ernest Dennis Holt. John is survived by his daughters, Lisa Wood McGuire and husband Jason of Grover, NC and Lora Wood of Shelby; brothers, Glenn Wood and wife Judy, Darrell Wood and wife Jan, all of Gastonia; grandchildren, Luke, Alyssa, and Gavin; former spouse, Robin Ledford Wood Gray of Kings Mountain; and his best friend, his dog buddy. A memorial service, will be held 3:00pm Sunday, May 19, at Zion Baptist Church, Gastonia, officiated by Rev. Leo Kuykendall. The family will receive friends, 2-3 pm on Sunday prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be sent to Cleveland Hospice, 951 Wendover Heights Dr., Shelby, NC 28150.
