John Basil Stowe

John Basil Stowe, 80, of Gastonia, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia.
He was born August 18, 1938, in Gaston County, son of the late Robert Stowe and Margaret Parker Martin.
John was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who retired from Knitcraft in Belmont. He was an avid fisherman and loved gardening. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bob Stowe, and sister, Jeanette Simmons.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 38 years, Freda Rhyne Stowe; sons, Shannon Stowe and wife, Jaimie, Brian Stowe and wife, Lindsay; sisters, Judy Long, Mary Stowe; brothers, Hugh Stowe and wife, Delaine, Kenneth Stowe and wife, Nancy, David Stowe, Bill Stowe and wife, Violet, Steve Stowe and wife, Robin; brothers and sisters in law, Larry and Barbara Rhyne, Berry and Candy Rhyne; grandchildren, Emma, Anson, and Selma Stowe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 4:00 pm on Tuesday at the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service 216 Archie Whitesides Rd., Gastonia. Pastor Jerry Millwood will be officiating.
The family will receive friends and hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
