John David Smart Jr.

John David Smart Jr., 28, of Gastonia, passed away December 31, 2021.

He was born July 22, 1993, in Gaston County, son of John David Smart Sr. and Barbara Haney.

He was a 2012 graduate of Bessemer City High School.

John was an avid V-tec Honda enthusiast. He loved drag racing, fishing and hanging out with his loving family and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 archie Whitesides Road Gastonia, officiated by Travis Lee.

The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Friday, January 7, 2022, at the funeral home.

John is survived by his parents John Smart Sr. and Barbara Haney; brother, Justin Smart (Haley Richardson); sister, Shyain Smart; grandparents, Joanne Haney, Mary Ann O'Neal, John C. Smart, Donald Latham; special cousin, Tors Lindsay.

John was preceded in death by his grandfather Steve Haney Sr.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Grace Baptist Church, Friday Night Light, 2200 Auten Rd, Gastonia, NC 28054.
