John David Scarbrough, 71, of Dallas, NC, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia.
He was born June 7, 1953, in Anderson Co, TN, son of the late William and Helen Scarbrough.
John loved his grandbabies and great grandbabies more than anything, a close second would be his Atlanta Braves. He spent every moment taking care of his wife of 51 years and making sure she had everything she needed and wanted. John retired from the Drum reconditioning business where he successfully managed many companies and spoke at conventions to share his expertise as well as being a skilled electrician. He was a proud US Air Force veteran who served in Vietnam and loved his country. He attended Gloryland Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ray Scarbrough (Martha), Henry Scarbrough (Iva), Gene Scarbrough (Kathy), and Bill Scarbrough.
John is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Patricia Mounce Scarbrough; daughters, Jeanie Scarbrough Driggers (Kevin whom is deceased), and Joanie Scarbrough Slusser (Geoff); grandchildren, Kaitlynn Michelle Driggers (Erik Carlson whom is deceased), Kevin Anthony Driggers II (Alexis Heredia), Jared David Slusser, and Hannah Marie Slusser; great-grandchildren, Joseph Oliver Carlson, and Lukas Waylon Carlson; siblings, Nancy Scarbrough Lowe (Mike), Dee Scarbrough (Etta), Roger (Diane), Michael (Robin) Scarbrough, Chuck Scarbrough (Barbara), and Bobby Scarbrough (Lorie); numerous nieces and nephews; and his four legged loyal best friend, Max.
A gathering of friends and family will be held 1:00pm, Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Gloryland Missionary Baptist Church - 101 Benfield Rd, Kings Mountain, NC 28086.
