John Ricardo

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Joseph Ricardo, who left us on January 7, 2026. Born in Sussex County, New Jersey, John spent his later years in Gastonia, North Carolina, where he created a home filled with love and joy.

John was a dedicated service technician in the food equipment repair industry, and particularly enjoyed his time working at Hobart. He wasn't just an employee; he found family in his coworkers and forged lasting friendships that meant the world to him. A true jack of all trades, John loved tinkering and had a knack for fixing anything that needed repair, from kitchen gadgets to cars.

First and foremost, John was a loving family man. He is survived by his three adoring children, Laurie, William, and Emma; siblings, Donnie Ricardo, Arline Sims, and Kenneth "Kenny" Ricardo; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. His love for his family knew no bounds and was evident in everything he did.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Barbra Jean Lillywhite Ricardo; mother, Arline Ricardo.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Greene Funeral Service South Chapel located at 1503 S York Rd, Gastonia, 28052.

As we say goodbye to John, we remember him as the loving father, devoted worker, and friend to many. His spirit will continue to inspire those who were lucky enough to know him.
